Why Hope Family Camp?

Children heal best in safe, connected relationships.
FFM's Hope Family Camp focuses on understanding behavior, building trust, and creating lasting connection.

TBRI® Principles

Camp programming is grounded in the three core principles of TBRI®:

Connecting Principles

Fostering attachment through engagement and playful interaction

 Some examples include:

  • Hands-on teaching
  • Family bonding exercises
  • Connecting before correcting strategies
  • Emotional regulation
  • Strategies for parents and kids

Empowering Principles

Meeting physical and sensory needs to support regulation

Some examples include:

  • Ways to manage sensory issues
  • Practical strategies for coping, healing, and growing
  • Easy to apply methods and continued coaching to help kids from hard places heal

Correcting Principles

Teaching respectful, non-punitive responses to behavior
These are taught through interactive sessions and group activities.

Some examples include:

  • Emotional regulation
  • Boundaries
  • Choices
  • Sharing power
  • How children from hard places think
  • How the brain works

Parent Learning & Support

 Parents attend:

  • Pre-camp and on-site training sessions

  • Discussions and demonstrations of TBRI® strategies

  • Practical coaching on implementing skills at home
This helps caregivers understand the theory and apply it with confidence.

Activities for Kids

  Children and teens participate in:

  • Skill-building groups that reinforce emotional regulation and social connection

  • Play-based activities that model healthy interaction

  • Sensory and creative experiences

Campers will also be matched with trained buddies for one-on-one connection and support.

Family Connection Time

Each day includes opportunities for parent and child to reunite and reflect on skills learned, share successes, and practice connection in joyful, real-world moments.

Camp Expectations & FAQs:

Who should attend camp?
All family members are required to participate in camp for both weekends, including caregivers.

What is the ideal age for campers?
Our target age range for the adopted/kinship children at this camp is 6-13 year olds (or Kindergarten through 6th grade). Other siblings are welcome to attend, and there will be activities for all ages present at camp. If you need any more info, reach out to FFM at 419.496.2507.

Do I need to bring my own food?
Dinner will be provided on June 11th and July 9th, and there will be snacks and lunch provided on June 12th and July 10th.

When is the application deadline?
We will accept family applications until the application window closes on March 31st. At that time, we will carefully review and select families to be accepted into the camp based on multiple determining factors.

How will I know if my family was accepted for Hope Family Camp?
If your application is selected, you will receive an acceptance email and an additional registration form to be completed.

I am concerned about the cost.
The cost includes t-shirt, snacks, lunches, all camp supplies, and TBRI Caregiver Training materials. Scholarships are available, and we will not turn away a family for inability to pay.
