Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you! Those words from Dr. Seuss remind us of the power of celebrating another person. We have celebrated Mother’s Day, Father’s Day with our focus on a special individual in our lives. Now we come up upon the 250th birthday of our nation. We are thankful for the freedom we enjoy in America. But what is it about birthdays that are so special for us individually? You may have reached an age where it has lost the excitement it once had. But remember the fun of celebrating as a child, the anticipation, the fun, the surprise…or remember celebrating the birthdays of your own children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, friends. I enjoyed the planning and creativity that went into a birthday celebration that fit each child’s interests at a given age as a special gift of honor. Over the years I have designed cakes into pirate ships, race cars, teapots and castles. Whether it was a friend’s party year or a family party year it was always a joy to celebrate the gift of this child’s life granted to us by the Lord. Do you know that most children who enter foster care have never celebrated their birthday complete with a cake and gifts? Some children have never had their own birthday cake. These children have not experienced the feeling conveyed by Dr. Seuss “There is no one alive that is you-er than you!” After all, your birthday is the celebration of God’s gift of you in our lives. Would you allow God to call you out of your comfort to make your home a mission field for precious children in foster care to experience the love and care you can provide. Will it require sacrifice? Yes. Will it change a life, most definitely. Would you allow God to use you with 5-6 hrs. of your time each month to serve a foster family on the front lines twice a month? You can help a vulnerable child feel the Love of God, feel celebrated, safe and special. Only one life will soon be passed, only what’s done for Christ will last. Would you invest time in eternal impact on behalf of a vulnerable child. Only eternity will tell the true impact of your service. For Hope and a Future, Sherry M. Bouquet Executive Director

What a joy to enjoy the Christmas season! It’s fun to see the lights up on houses and trees, and the world seems to sparkle more than usual. The warm feeling of Christmas is something many of us know.
