As teenage brother and sister stood outside in the still, dark night, trying to catch their breath after their desperate escape from the repeated abuse of their father, these words came from their lips, "God Help!"
Would you be wiling to help them? Would your church be ready and available to help?
As the banquet guests leaned in to hear Austin Ludwig share his story we breathed a collective sigh of relief, in his story there was a small church directly in their path and by God's grace a door was left unlocked. That may have been an unintentional oversight of a church member but that night it was an answer to a prayer.
Our challenge as individuals and as the church is to be intentional about our ministry in the mission field of foster care. The fruit of that intentionality was on display in Austin's life's journey. Christian foster parents poured into him during his high school years. God allowed those seeds to bear fruit as he has served as a pastor, speaker, song writer and gifted musician. His message inspires us to step our of our comfort and into God's calling.
There is something for each of us to do:
Open our home and foster--three families have responded thus far to this call.
Open our heart to support those who foster with our service--several churches are stepping up to engage in foster care mission at their church by partnering with FFM.
Open our hands and financial support this work of foster care mission--$85,000+ has been given or pledged to help us reach our year end goal of $125,000.
Perhaps you would like to work with our team? We have openings for Regional Coordinator (part time) in several counties. If you want to serve the Lord through foster care mission let us know. (Knox, Medina & Wayne).
Check out the details at our website.
The following day we hosted lunch in Medina County to share with pastors there about the need for churches to engage in foster care mission in their communities. Austin's experience touched hearts and opened opportunities for us to partner with additional churches in that community.
If you are considering how God is calling you out of your comfort to meet the prayer, "God help" please reach out to us.
Open your Home: Say yes to fostering. Contact us: info@fosteringfamilyministries.org
Open your Heart: HERE
Open your Hands: Support the mission and donate to the year end goal.
If we all step out of comfort and into God's calling the foster care crisis would be solved by the Church and the healing Good News of the Gospel would be shown in our actions.
Thank you for answering God's call!
