You may have been one of many who adopted a child in foster care this past Christmas. Or served a family over the past year. We receive many expressions of thanks from families who benefit from the time you invest to help lift the load of fostering.
One kinship parent sent a sweet thank-you shortly after Christmas. She was thrilled with the gifts that were just perfect for her kiddo down to the favorite color of the winter coat. (Of course we know those profiles help us shop!).
Every foster/kinship caregiver in one county received $50 of gift cards. You may have donated gift cards to us for that purpose. FFM also purchased additional cards so we could give the caregivers a gift as well as a thank-you. We want foster and kinship families to be seen and appreciated.
As our staff seemingly randomly added gift cards to each family packet we wanted God to use the gifts to specifically bless the recipient. It should come as no surprise when this kinship caregiver also mentioned that the $50 in gas cards will be so helpful for her trips to Columbus for her oncology appointments.
Now that just blessed the givers! If you gave some gas cards...this thank you may be for you.
In the same spirit of appreciation we are encouraging you to say THANK-YOU to those who serve on the front lines of the foster care system...the case workers.
Would your church express your thanks to the social workers in your county this month? Ask for a one pager to give you some direction on how to join in this service activity. We will also share our template for postcards to print on white card stock. If you need help connecting to your county agency or need to know many social workers to prepare for give us a call/text 419-496-2507 or email.
